It has the standard USB-A at one end but Sony came up with the multi-use data/charger connector at the other end where a USB MINI-B would be expected. Of course, a standard USB connector would be as capable of 'multi-use' (charge and data transfer) as the Sony proprietary connection but then a standard cable couldn't be sold at a premium. <br /> <br />If you lose the original cable that came with the Go, this item would be the recommended replacement or you may want to get one preemptively, as a backup. <br /> <br />To make it short, Sony's cable is guaranteed to work with the Go and it can be had for this premium price but there are lower price alternatives out there - just make sure that you order from a reputable vendor.
